I'm having a few problems with my 2007 xlr 883 sportster
sometimes the alarm won't deactivate so I have been entering the pin number to start it. However, just lately I can't do this, I turn the key and press both indicator buttons immediately but the row of zero's doesn't appear in the odometer. I've been getting round this by turning it off and on several times and eventually it comes to life and you can start it. Quite often when I turn it on, nothing at all happens, there are no lights in the display and the computer doesn't come to life, if I wiggle the key around that sometimes works, or sometimes I wiggle the fuses and that brings it back to life. I appreciate it must be some kind of electrical fault but any ideas where to start?
07 Sporties are notorious for water intrusion problems in the fuse block/relay area. This leads to corrosion on the contacts of the fuses and relays.
If you don't have some, pick up a tube of dielectric grease from your local auto parts store. Remove all fuses and relays, clean the contacts on all of them and then coat the contacts with the grease and reinstall.
