As was posted already, if you're patient you can find some deals. I bought a very clean '05 1200 Custom 4 months ago w/ Short Shots, jet kit, & Screaming Eagle air cleaner for $5k. It had 40k miles, but appears to be well maintained.
Now for you guys with the 883s. Are they enough power for you? A few people I've talked to say when they had a 883 within about 6 months they wanted something bigger.
My 883C has more than enough power. I'm 6'2 and weigh around 240 lbs.
I'm not racing Hayabusas though...

edit: I wont even say what I stole my 883 for w/6100 miles it makes me feel bad for the guy but then I forget about it as soon as I look at it and go riding.
