So easy to get caught up in the mods. Don't get caughht in that trap and enjoy your bike.
Just because you can mod doesn't mean you have to. For me, most of the modded bikes look like crap anyways.

48's are great looking bikes to begin with. Why do you feel the need to change everything on it? Like everyone else says, just ride it. That's what it's for. There's a million farkles out there for my current bike, but I told myself I'd ride it for a year before I changed anything on it. Know what, the list of what I had to have dropped down to just a couple of items - things to make the engine live longer and me ride more comfortably. I now appreciate the bike for what it is, not what others think it should be.

I say sell it, even if at a big loss. All Harley-Davidson's are a money pit that you'll regret spending money on until the day you die. Get out now! Shoot me a PM and I'll take that devil off your hands - cheap.

What do you want to modify?

Yes mods can add up, yet as said above, your 48 is fairly custom as is.

Some mods can be fabricated by you with little cost.

Ride it.

Check e-bay, this site and all for used mods.

Else with any replacement bike you own you be in this same quandry.

My suggestion is sell it and look for a few years older bike that already has a lot more of the stuff you wished your new one had on it. A low milage loaded older harley is really the way to get the best deal.

Im to the point with my bike were I dont want to change anything other than the paint. Does that mean Im going to sell it? Hell no. Im just going to ride the **** out of it. Anytime you think you want to sell it go for a ride. See how you feel when you get back.

sounds like you've already spent the big money on it, only the little stuff is left, like gauges, chrome pieces, etc. so if you like the bike keep it & go ahead & finish it off. what's another $500? you'll spend more than that on sales tax/ dealer fees getting another bike. Harleys are all about customizing. Dont worry about the money up front, the bike is in investment, if your going to keep it for 5 years or longer then your going to get your moneys worth out of the upgrades.

If your getting transportation value out of the bike, then it is much cheaper than a car and a lot more fun so dont feel bad about upgrading it.

If there's another bike you want, sounds like you can get a good deal trading it in.
