HD just came out with service bulletin M1326 reference loose spokes on 2012 sportster and softails with laced wheels. Apparently a known issue with spokes being found loose on PDI and under 1k miles. Someone in the wheel section must have been sleeping upon assembly.
thought i would give an up date it was the back wheel and at least half the spokes came loose!! i actually almost laid the bike down the last time it came on and it freaked me out so bad. i found the problem them took it in and get my bike back in a week?!?!?! OC harly now has 3 strikes with me
yup, i got wobble on my red flake 72. as long as i'm throttling, she's fine ... but if i ease off just to cruise around 50mph+ or so - yup, there's the wobble.
i got the letter in the mail about whatever the issue is; gonna roll her down to bartel's this weekend to get her checked out for that and the wobble - cuz damn if that ain't disconcerting, especially on my night rides up around the canyons of LA.
as someone else said; yes, this stock seat has GOT to go - if i give her anything at all from a stop, i have to hold on tight otherwise my *** is flying right off the back.
definitely need new pipes. but i can live with it till the cash flow comes in.
overall though - love this bike. few kinks to straighten out, but she's a looker, definitely moves and is pretty damn comfy for a sporty.
Updates on wobbles? Any new issues? My rear wheel unlaced at 500 mi. Dealer replaced same day. No issues with the wheels since but DO have decel wobbles at 70+. HOWEVER, I have 16's apes and a loaded sissy bar poorly displacing weight most likely adding to any potential wobble ..... still sorting from ride to ride. Cheers.
lmao. Although fat chicks have fat legs hangin low to balance! I usually have my bag packed top heavy (waiting for side bags to arrive). I'm also 6'3 so I Sit way back on the seat, belt against pillion.....this is also a factor for wobbles. Sitting "ahead" of the shocks will bring better balance when "tall heavy". TooRainy here still to roll over 70mph so I'll dirch the sissy bar, sit mid seated and report back asap w some pics as well. Ride safe Cheers

Thanks for the heads up. I brought my new Sporty in for its 1K mile service the other day and I specifically asked the dealer to check the spokes and when I picked the bike up they told me there was a service bulletin on loose spokes and mine were all within specs.
