New here and just got my first Harley - 2012 Nightster. Anyways, being that i am about 6'5 i have been looking at forward controls. Did some searching and it appears HD controls would be best, but i found some on ebay for a bit cheaper and just wondering if anyone could comment on the quality...
Thought I wanted Forward controls for my Sporty until I actually rode a Sporty with forwards. Took SO much of the fun out of the ride. I felt like they took away the "sportiness" of the bike. I just went with a $100 pair of adjustable highway pegs to chill on the... highway... and kept the mids for the canyon dips/corners. Also, I like putting my feet on the rear passenger pegs through the real tight twisties because my bike is lowered and the mid pegs scrape.
Forwards are were it's at. I nevr bought the cheapos but the HD ones are damn nice. I wouldn;t order anything off ebay you cant buy from the dealer or JPCycle.
at 6'5" youll still have the sporty feel. at least I do but I ride like a bat out of hell anyways. I agree with everyone else buy the genuine HD forward controls. You can usually find some for sell every now and then. also maybe highway pegs would fit the bill, just a thought.
You might also want to try Newcastle.com or Surdyke.com for the HD parts. Find the part numbers, plug them in at the sites and see if they have them. A bit cheaper than buying straight from the MoCo.
Get the HD one's and be happy. I have themon my bike and they are great. My step dad has aftermarket forwards on his sporty and they have broke on him while riding.

It was vice versa for me.. originally I thought the same and went with a set of HD highway pegs.. but I found myself 90% always being on them except when shifting or rear braking.. it got so annoying going back and fourth that I went ahead and invested in forwards. I'm 5'7 and it's super comfy!
