I finished my Motorcycle Safety Course this past weekend. I'm headed to the DMV shortly to finish my license process. I know it's been said 1000 times before but I'm going to say it again. This was a very good course for beginners and I highly suggest it, fun and informative for us beginners.
It's good for veterans too. I took it 2 years ago, and I was far from a rookie. I know a lot of guys that are too proud too take it, and I just shake my head.

It also gained me a discount on my insurance.
I've been riding for well over 40 years and I took it 4 years ago with my wife so she would have someone she knows there with her.
It taught me a couple of things and reminded me of a few more (bad habits). All in all it was a pretty good course and I did get a discount on my insurance.
I might add that I looked like a pregnant elephant on those little bikes.
I really wanted to take it again this year just as a refresher.
I took it about 10 years ago, but I'd like to start taking it every couple years.
It's a good idea to keep the fundamentals top of mind.
Unfortunately it was all sold out in my area.
Next season I hope to take the first course, and the more advanced one.
Guess I'll have to be extra careful to survive until then.
I'm going to take it soon myself.. in NC you can ride legally with a permit after just a written test, which is how I've been on the road.. taking the class exempts you from the (I hear ridiculously hard) skills test. I also sorta want to toy around on their little bikes.. I've never ridden anything but my sporty and I'm curious

A friend of mine got his motorcycle license in NC. He said he failed it 3 times before he finally passed. Because just like you said it is ridiculously hard.
