Sportster Frame Question
I just replaced the rubber boot protecting the clutch adjuster with the chrome cover. I purchased the 1 3/8" clutch cable clamp. Using the pic on the instructions as a guide to place the clamp, I discovered that the clamp's diameter is too small; the clamp does not fit. (1 3/8" is the proper sized clamp for my 2006 Sporty.) However, when I move the clamp down about 2.5 inches (or so) the clamp fits. Do the front tubes of the frame taper? There is nothing mentioned in the Service Manual. In fact, my local HD parts department stated that the tubes should not taper. How come the clamp does not fit? I wanted to add a clamp above the adjuster for added looks and uniformity. The clamp's diameter is not even close. It seems like I need a 1.5 inch clamp. I hope someone can help.
