Just placed my order
I just placed my order for my 2013 Harley Iron 883.
I am military on deployment and ordered through the Navy Autosource. So my bike will be delivered a few days after I get back from my deployment.
I never thought I would own a HD. I have rode dirtbikes all my life and my last ride was a KTM 690SMC supermoto which was REALLY fun but comfort level was horrible. After 30 min of riding it felt like sitting on a 2x4. Very Painful. But I never really bought into the HD mentality. My dad and brother are both HD guys to the soul and I guess the bug just took its time to bite me.
I am really into Cafe Racers but I did not want a project that would require me to tinker every time I wanted it to start. I want the look of a cafe racer, the reliability of a modern bike, sound of a v-twin, and a price under $10k. -Insert the Iron- I plan on riding it stock for a bit to figure out what and how I want to transform my bike. I am almost sure I will be going to the 1250 kit since I am used to slightly faster bikes.
I am still a little uneasy about buying sight unseen, but its an excellent price, and checks all of the boxes that I want in a bike. I just have to wait another 5 more months before I can even see it.

My advice would be to ride it for a few months before you start to drastically change it, which sounds like what you plan on doing.
You may change your mind on what you are currently envisioning.
The top three changes right off the bat are:
1) New hi-flow air cleaner
2) Tuner or XieD
3) New exhaust
After that it's probably seat and suspension and everything else is pretty much cosmetic (other than engine performance mods like the 1250 kit you are planning).
You may be surprised and after completing those top three upgrades you may decide you can hold off on the 1250 kit a bit longer depending on money and/or time frame. The 883 rips pretty good once you wake it up a bit.
I already decided on the Spitfire Exhaust (I like the look of a High n tight exhaust with straight shots)
Undecided on the air cleaner but I am leaning towards the screaming eagle.
still not sure about the tuner. I have not done enough research
I am working on trying to improve the performance of the bike by decreasing my own weight. I am 6'3" and I used to weigh almost 240lbs. I am down to 187lbs and trying to get back to my 175lb weight. That should definitely help performance *smirk*

I got up to 251 and said enough was enough, worked my way down to 185 just in time when I bought my motorcycle.
in california the law STARTS for any bike built after 2013,
every bike built after 2013 the manufacture has to include some sort of sticker that state it has to be within a certain sound DB level, and ANY EXHAUST you get must have a DB sticker saying it is within limits!!!!
if you own a bike MADE before 2013 you dont have to worry about any of this!!,
arnold schwarzenegger signed this law before he left office

I'm not much of a "harley" guy either. I don't care what other people ride and I don't understand the stupid pissing matches between brands and types of bikes.
I have a Nightster and love it. Its a 2009 and it just feels right to me. I'm sure that you'll like your Iron.
My bike is a 2013 but it is built before Jan 1, 2013 think i beat that legislation?
