Default Electrical Gremlins

The gremlins started a few months ago when they started making the front running lights stop working one at a time. The bulbs (LED I think) themselves are working as they work with turn indicators, hazards, and security flashes. Just recently the back right tail light is doing the same thing where it will only illuminate with braking, turning, and security system flashing.

Tonight I got home from work and walked past the bike, which hasn't been ridden in a few days, and all the lights were off. Just a few moments ago one of the guys that lives in the building knocked on my door telling me that my lights were on. I walk outside and see that just the license plate light and the odometer are illuminated. The key fob is nowhere near the motorcycle and no key is in the ignition. I got the keys and turned the bike on and off again and the lights went out.

The bike is a 2011 Iron and has no electrical modifications so I don't have a single clue as to what could be going on. Any thoughts? It is under warranty, however I live in Germany and the nearest servicing location is about an hour away and I don't get much free time from work.

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like you keep the bike outside, other than water getting into the electrical components I wouldnt have a clue what to tell you.

But - I dropped my phone in the sh*tter once. Whenever I hit the 4 button, the 4 and two other buttons would register. The clear buttom would bring up the camera function. It was all outta whack. This continued for about 2 days until it finally dried out and was fine.

Maybe something similiar with your bike? Water in the module that controls the lights?

Greetings Amn Kafka
Sorry to hear about your Electrical Gremlins
You already know what components are affected, do you have a volt meter to trouble shoot with?
Have you checked your fuses to see if any are blown?
Use a volt meter to see if the wires are shorted to the frame, because if your lights come on with your bike turned off then you have a hot wire shorting to the frame some where.
