2000 Stock Sportster spits occasionally when revving cold or warm

2000 Stock Sportster spits occasionally when revving cold or warm
Bike is completely stock, with 8000 miles on it, when revving it will every 10 or so times I rev. tried replacing the plugs (didn't use HD, used Champion) with no improvement. any thoughts?

Are you referring to a "carb fart"?
If so, try going thru the carb and cleaning it up. That age, that low mileage, sounds like it's sat alot. Otherwise, a more detailed explanation might be in order.

Howdy, bike, even warmed up will spit every 10th time or so revving.. seems generally to happen if I don't let it completely come down from a previous rev... thinking it probably is crap in the jets or something but wanted to query the masses to see if carb cleaner might help...

I'll get the "spitting" occasionally, usually when when the throttle is cracked halfway open. Seems to be related to cold mornings - warm afternoons, no problem. My assumption has been that the factory jetting is a bit on the lean side, and the heavier morning air leans it out even more. ???
