Default mounting chopped fender.

I have been thinking of chopping my rear fender. Some of the pictures I have seen remove the bar where the fender mounts are, so how are people mounting their fenders? How are people removing that bar? Are they cutting that too?\

Here are some examples of the style I like, although I'm not entirely certain the first one is a chopped fender.

First one is a front fender mounted to the rear. Second is a carbon fiber fender mounted to the frame in front of the tire. Third one is simple fender struts bolted to the fender and the shock mount.

Yes, the first and third have the fender support struts cut right off and filed down.

First I cut the frame rails on my Sportster. Found a 2003 Fat Boy front fender on Craigslist and cut of the tail. I mounted the Fat Boy fender to my Sportster frame and seat tab. For support I used Grade 8 bolts and tied them together below the fender with a 6” piece of ź” stock.

What did you use to cut the fender and frame rails? When you had to put the mount from the fender to the frame did you have to drill new holes?

Angle grinder with cut off wheel, or hacksaw.

I used a sawzaw, zipped through that **** in a blink of an eye then smoothed it all out with the grinder, paint and ride.
