Default windshield

i'm thinking of getting a windshield for my 09 sporty 883 low, its a Slipstreamer Mini HD. has anyone used one and what did or do you think of it. It just mounts to the handle bars, quick release and seems like a nice fit for a sporty and the cost is right around the $100.00 mark. Any feedback would be great.

Default not for me

I too have an 2009 883 low. I personally do not like the look of a windshield on Sportsters. Plus, I like to out there in the wind.

I have an 11 super low with the Harley windshield. I love it makes it more comfortable on longer rides that's for sure.

Well i bit the bullit and purchased the HD mini, along with some leather throw over saddlebags and a leather fork bag ,all for the amazing low price of $130.00. The shield is good, i wouldn't call it great, its small enough so it doesn't really take away from the look of the bike, but it does take the edge off wind and bugs. The nice part is quick detatch for around town.

I had a HD quick release compact that did nothing but scramble my brains with buffeting.. The stock shield was 18 inches. I replaced it with a Memphis Shades OEM replacement that i used with the original HD quick release hardware. I have no buffeting at all. the Memphis Shades is 19 inches tall and a bit wider then stock. I love my windshield and not having to hold on for dear life going down the highway. My MS windshield looks bad a$$.

I get tons of wind in the face and body without the bugs and force trying to blow you off the bike. Most of my riding is highway so i won't ride without a shield. I also ride until the roads are no longer safe for two wheel travel. ie snow and ice.

Do you have the item # of the Memphis Shade you picked up? I'd like to change mine. The buffeting is terrible. Does it make you look through the shield though? Mine now is just below my line of sight.

I ordered mine from Dennis Kirk but here is the MS website. You basically remove the HD plastic and replace with the Memphis Shades of your choice windshield on the HD hardware. I look over and the wind hits the very top of my helmet. I hated the HD windshield but love the Memphis Shades. I'm 6 feet 1 for reference sake. I get a little buffeting riding into a strong head wind but not vision blurring like the HD gave me. I get no buffeting at all with the wind to my back.

Thanks for the link. I'm 5'9" so I'd probably be looking through the shield. I'm not sure if my current one is the 14" or the 18". I'll measure it. Either way, the buffeting is just terrible. Under 40mph it's ok. But that defeats the purpose. Over 50mph it's just about unusable. I'll check those out. Thanks.

Here is the one I use, I like it, but on really windy days, the buffetting is a real pain.

I just measured mine. It's the 18". Is going to 19" going to make a significant difference? What if I went the other direction and went to 15"? Would that make it better or worse?
