Most of the buffeting comes from under the shield or around the sides.

Longride shields makes a recurve that will fit a sporty. I have an 18" on the way right now. An added plus is they are extremely helpful in picking the right height am they only cost $55 right now. on sale.

I have the HD Compact...14" tall from the top of the headlight, 20" wide. I'm 5'3". I look over the shield. I've had my '07 1200L to 105 mph according to the speedometer and GPS I had on the bike at the time. No crosswinds. No buffeting. I occasionally get buffeting with crosswinds and passing heavy trucks, but it's really no big deal to me. I normally ride 70 mph highway, or less if the traffic is heavy or weather conditions are not great. I ride with a Daytona Skull cap, an HJC 3/4 helmet (with face-shield), and an HJC modular. Sometimes no helmet at all because I can.

With the 18 inch HD, the wind was smacking me in the forhead with the 19 inch bugs it the very top of my helmet. I don't get any bugs in the face with the Memphis Shades as the airflow takes them over my head. A lose or improper fitting helmet can also magnify head shake if you wear one. Good luck i think the goal is to find a windshield that is tolerable under windy conditons and near perfect when its not windy.
