I've seen all the new flake colors. I had the most hopes for the green but was the most disappointed in it. I liked the red best. That said, I think the gold is the least trendy of the three trendy colors and will hold the test of time better. IMHO

There is really only one color that will hold forever and will never go out of style. That's vivid black. All the others either change or go in and out of vouge.

There are some bikes I can tell what year they are simply by the color or color combo. I have to look closer at a vivid black bike to determine the year. I would hate to speculate the last time Harley didn't offer a shiny black bike but I would bet it's been decades. I know over a generation ago and I wouldn't be surprised if it's been over 50 years. Every other color offering has changed many times since then.

So yes your bike will be trendy but if you really like it who cares? Just get it and enjoy it.

Personally, I kinda like the flake paints jobs. Brings me back to a time in my life when I painted a lot of flake jobs - cars and bikes. That was some 40+ years ago. Kinda cool to see it reappearing.

It's obviously not going to be the "in" thing forever, but being a factory job may give it a little extra life and a little less on the down side when the style fades again.

One thing I did notice though when I saw these flake jobs at a dealer, they don't have a very smooth finish. They could use another wet-sanding and clear coat application to make them really nice.

The 48 is a great bike, regardless of color.

Now, go trade-in the Triumph and get the one you want.

The dealer is killing me on the trade in. So, the plan is to sell the Triumph privately and use the $$ as down payment. Went to the dealer today for a test ride, but they did not let me cause I only had Chuck Taylor's on. They said it was a "liability" thing.

If all goes well, I should be riding a 48 by the end of the month.

Metal flake paint is for queers.

So is orange paint... totally gay.

Seriously dude... really? Trendy? Buy what you f*cking want. Worrying about whether you're being "trendy" is as stupid as... well... worrying you might not be trendy.

Oh... btw... fat spokes and apes are for trendy pillow biters too.

I think the Flake jobs are cool. MOCO did a good job on those. I'm working on my painting skill, starting out on my Grandson's Mini Trail.

Like 2black said, flake is old school. So even if its no longer "trendy" you'll just be vintage. IMO I still like matte black, when done right of course.

The red looks pretty sweet. Then gold and then green.. they all look very cool! And no gay thoughts popped up in my head when I saw the colors. It just depends on what color you think matchs the bike the best. I have nothing bad to say about the colors, Truthfully.
