When you turn on your bike, i mean just turn the key to the position where your headlight comes on, does your front 'running lights" come on but not your back? I just relocated my front turn signals and i dont know maybe im just paying too close attention, the turn signals light up in front and back but when i turn the bike on the front running lights come on but the back dont. Is this the way it should be?
Harley makes a running light kit that will allow your rear turnsignals to function as a running light as well as an additional set of brake lights. The kit consist of a module that will plug in under the seat, and also includes a set of red lense covers. The kit is about a 15 minute install and will make a big differenceat night.
I purchased a set of the passing lamps right before christmas and will probably be putting those on in the next few days.
Harley also has a Lighted Rear Turn Signal Mount. This adds red running lights on the stem the rear turn signals are mounted on. They are LED lights, very bright, they function as running lights, and also serve as additional brake lights.
I have them and they quite possibly are my favorite accessory so far. Not counting the stage 1 stuff.
I had a tail light bulb go bad while out ridin one night. It wasn't long before I went and got the Module to convert the tails to run/turn/brake!!!!!!!! Got 3 lights in the back now instead of one!
I added the module to change the rears to running/break lights as well. I decided to do this after closing in, at a rather rapid rate, on another Sporty at dusk. Something about that single rear light can cause an "optical delusion"!
Up to this point my thought was screw em if they are gonna hit me (cagers)I hope they kill me and not just break my back! But after that I started thinkin if I can do something to help out other riders than I am cool with that! The module cost $45 with taxes and 15 minutes of my time! Woulda took less time if I woulda had my Gerber with me...to cut open the stupid packaging! But I know parts from China must be secured for the long trip on the container ship!
Harley is not the only company that doesn't light up their rear ends...a quick poll of metric riders I know shows Hondas and Yamahas do not come stock with lit turn lights on the back either!
Yep I installed the module also (not enuff characters to add it below). Quite a difference ... I think its worth the money .... The wife mentioned that all she could see when following me at night was a little dot.
Makes sense ... shame on you Harley. This way the cagers can see what they are running into [&:]
