Default Vibration question

First off I know Harleys vibrate LOL!!

I've noticed that up to about 70-75mph it's pretty much smooth sailing and tolerable as far as any vibration is concerned. But anything over 75mph I really get a nasty vibration especially in the pegs. Is this normal? I dont spend a whole lot of time above 75 but where I live I'm surrounded by tollways and highways that have a 70mph speed limit and 5-10mph over is usually just keeping up with the flow of traffic.

Thanks

Check your rubbermounts and their condition. You should try riding a solid mount or hardtail...

Yea its normal you just learn to live with it.
You could put some different footpegs on to dampen the buzz. Arlen Ness Soft-Touch pegs will set you back 80 bucks from http://www.sportsterspecialty.com

I'm not so sure about the vibrations you experience.

I have a 2007 XL 1200R and I don't get any unusual vibrations over 2500 rpm, no matter what the speed. There's certainly nothing coming through the foot pegs at 80+ mph.

Let's see what other rubber mount Sportster owners say.

A 45 degrees V twin (without balancing shafts as Sportster) has vibration built in. This makes kind of hard to tell whether your vibration is excessive or not. Riding a similar bike for comparison would help.

I think he means that his bike's vibrations change, i.e. increase noticably, once he goes past 75 mph. My bike doesn't do that - there are obviously vibrations but they don't change in intensity above 2500 rpm.
