What can I do to replace the LED light that went out in my 2008 883L Sporty. I was told that is cant be replaced due to the sealed unit and would cost me $260.00 + dollars to install a new speedo. what the hell is that all about?? Please and help would be most appreciated.
Which LED light? If it is the one in the Speedo, the retail for the speedo is $260, but you can find them on ebay for less the $100
If it is one of the lndicator lights in the row below the speedo, that indicator light bar runs $80 new, but again, you can probably find it on ebay for less.
LilJo.....Not sure about replacing the light, but if you end up needing to replace the speedo, I have a used one I'm trying to unload. It's got around 6500 miles on it. Hit me with a PM if interested.
There was a thread in the dyna section a couple days ago that had a how to on this bc guys were replacing them with different colored leds. I'll see if I can find it for you
Here ya go. They're all more or less the same. If you're going to have to replace it anyway, I say give this a go.
Look in the touring section also, I use to be in there,
couple of threads about the back light LEDs changed and links to the company, they might be able to help
It's kind of hard to believe that all (12?) of the LED's in the OP's 4 yo speedo burned out. LED's last almost forever, if all of them are out, I'd be double checking fuses (accessory and instruments) and connectors.
I've got 90,000 miles on my 2004 and the LED's are all still working.
