I am hoping someone might be able to tell me a convenient grounding point to attach a negative jumper cable to a 2013 Iron 883. I can't attach it to the lug on the engine where the battery ground cable terminates (b/c I can't reach it without enlisting the help of a 2 year old with tiny hands) and I can't attach it to the negative battery terminal with the battery installed.
I am looking for a location where the metal jumper cables won't scratch the bike, so I don't want to attach it directly to my frame.
I thought about that. I can't imagine they'd get any hotter than the friction caused while spinning. Current goes through the swingarm, too. I could be wrong. My other concern was scoring the rotor, but I've done it a half dozen times or so with no appearent ill effect. If you have a feeler or shift lever you can clamp to, by all means, do that. If your clamps are shaped in a particular manner, you might get a hold of the grounding lug behind the primary, next to the starter.
