So I'm in the process of getting a '13 iron 883 and I told the dealer I could give the 10% down payment ($1100) this Friday the 7th and I gave em $200 bucks to get the process started last week, well some things have popped up and it isn't looking like I can give the other $900 until the 21st, I told the salesman that I could do $750 but he's saying that now I may be in danger of losing the $200 deposit and the bike because they were trying to put this sale on last month for him and not this month, question is what would y'all do? I mean I'd love to drop the $900 this Friday but it'll put me in to much of a money constraint situation...any input would be appreciated cause I'm really just thinking about saying screw em and going to another dealer cause it seems to me that this dealer is more about the money that the buyer, sad but true
Tell them to work it out or give you the 200 bucks back and you'll go buy it somewhere else. They can't keep the money, and are just trying to pressure you.
Read the bill of sale that you signed. It will probably say that the $200 deposit is refundable. I had to do that with a car purchase a few years ago. The dealer was pissed, but there was nothing they could do.
Some dealers have a non-refundable deposit policy. What did you put your signiture on? You may not get the $200 back.
It's always all about the money, but if they can't wait a week or two, f' 'em. Ask them if they realize a new Harley buyer spends about two grand on their bike in the first year. Do they want you to buy the bike and spend your parts money at another dealer? F' their last months sales quota and his sales commission. They'll sell the bike to another customer and loose a customer in the process. If you do get the bike there, I wouldn't spend another penny at their dealership and tell them that - right after they hand over the keys.
EDIT: Don't make a scene. It just makes you look like an *******.

Reason: nunya
i hope it works out and am sorry to sound harsh but a deposit is generally non refundable. my suggestion is throw the dealer a few extra bucks as a good will gesture then top it up when you can.
don't expect better service from another dealer when it comes to finances dude. it's the same all over.
if you don't buy the bike someone else will....that's how they see it
This. Are you financing the balance through HD? If you've signed an agreement, I would think that the deal at this point is between you and the finance department, not the sales guy.
