Default Best 883-1200 conversion

I have been seriously considering doing one to my 1999 XLH. Let's face it even with SE cams the 883 is anemic. Been looking around at various kits and manufacturers and it will cost around $1200 whether I buy the HD SE kit or go after market. HD even comes w/ new heads. Already have santee duals, se a/c and cams. I know I will have to rejet again. Not looking for any bad *** street demon here, just want to keep up w/o straining if I choose to use the sporty when I'm out with friends. Not a hurry issue, two others to use while the XL is down. Kinda just looking for those who have done the conversion to chime in on what they think. Regrets, what they would do different etc. Thanks

Best bang for your buck I think is with NRHS or Hammer.

How much do you want to spend on this conversion? How much are you willing to spend?

I will be following this thread as I got my lady an Iron 883 for Christmas. I know the day will come when she thinks about getting a bigger motor.

I have done it with hammer. Fyi....hammer ported n.h.r.s. for years. They have no current work up on their site. Check out hammers site. They are going crazy there with r and d and 883 conversions using 883 heads. Imo....screaming eagle makes great cams. But those heads are a waste of money. Hammers pistons and cylinder construction is second to none. A mild set of stage 2 heads and mild cam from hammer will give you serious power.

I did the 1212 kit from NRHS in '08 and I'm still very happy with it. The only thing I'd do differently is I'd go with the 1250 kit instead. The price difference is $215 on Hammer's web site and $175 on NRHS' site. Was looking to save a few dollars at the time and didn't consider buying new cylinders. Here's my Dyno pull after the 1212 conversion: https://www.hdforums.com/forum/10709296-post25.html.
