Don't just get a "cool" helmet...get a "quality/safe" one as well. Don't know what's avail over-the-pond, but I've had good luck w/sales @ Motorcycle Superstore (http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/). Might be a good place to find a particular make /style & then see if there's a online discount retailer in the UK who can price match...worth a shot. Good luck & enjoy that new Iron883 - sweet scoot!
If you can, try the helmet on first. I was set on a certain helmet and glad I went and tried a bunch on first because that one was the least comfortable of all of them.

Yes, try them on first and make sure you understand what a good fit is. Helmets from different manufacturers, even though they say the same size, are not the same size or shape with you get them on.
Also, for helmets that have removable windshields. make sure the mechanism works well and is not too complex. I have a full face helmet that has the most complex shield attachment I have ever seen.
There are also flip-up helmets that go from 3/4 to full face. These can be convenient but sometime heavier.
Bottom line, go try them on... before you buy. And also, think about the level of protection you need. (Go watch some MC crash video compilations on YouTube, then make you decision)
