Biltwell and DK customs are the two that are most popular here.

I like DK's struts better but if I get the 10.5 inch ones will it lower it a noticable difference when i sit on the bike and will my bike sit at an odd angle? with it not being lowered at all in the front

Use the search. They will eff your back up and ruin your bike.

I've got some extra angle iron laying around, would that work?

drummer,

I'm the guy with the tank shift you PM'd recently, and I run 10" Biltwell struts with a spring seat. I switched to struts after an incident that took place late in 2011 not long after I installed a skinny tire setup front and rear, with the rear tire being 5.00x16. I was traveling in the fast lane of a local freeway when I hit a large expansion joint, and the Progessive 412s on my bike bottomed out and the tire made contact with the fender. I smelled something funny and pulled off at the next exit into a parking lot, and found the taillight wire harness (which is adhered to the underside of the rear fender in a plastic sleeve) had been ripped out. All the wires were frayed or torn apart, and the harness was very close to getting caught up in the drive belt, which was bad. As I stood there I felt like an idiot, as I realized I hadn't taken into account the taller sidewall of the new tire versus the worn out Metzler I'd replaced. I cut the rest of the harness off with my trusty pocketknife and rode home using hand signals.

After repairing the harness I found the struts (which had been given to me by another Sporty guy who'd sold his bike) in one of my garage cabinets. I put them on, then a week later added a used spring seat I found on eBay. The result is that from a comfort standpoint it really isn't that bad, especially if you adjust the tire pressure to about 22 psi. I made three trips to Fresno (251 miles one way from my home) three straight weekends in a month as I was judging band festivals up there, and it rode fine. My saddlebags cover up the struts, and I finished off the project using four Widmer Brothers Hefeweizen bottle caps from the beer I drank during the strut install as bolt covers. I ride this bike every day to the office in heavy So Cal traffic, and I'm in my upper 40's.

The picture below was shot this past Saturday; hopefully it will give you an idea how the bike sits. At any rate, I hope this helps.

I'm running 11" struts w/1" lowering kit & the fender is lowered 1 1/4" on the fender struts.
