Angry 250$ screw up

so about a month ago I removed my rear tire on my 06 883c to get new rubber put on... and over the winter I put my hard bags on the bike cutting bolts to make them fit cause all my bolts were to long....so when the weather started getting warmer I started taking my bike out like most people do and it was running fine other then a loese heat shield which an untrained monkey could fix... so what i ended up doing was one of the bolts i had used to mount on my saddle bags was to long and when my girl got on the back of the bike rear fender drops and this bolt is now digging into my brand new ****ing tire.... i knew the bolt was to long and i ****ing left it dumb dumb dumb mistake....and i took my bags off today to remove my chrome strut covers and noticed my new tire has been getting cut up by this ****ing bolt i just dont know how i didnt catch this before ....DUMB mistake ****....it was a dumb mistake check your work guys dont make a dumb mistake like me

I did the same exact thing with my seat screw! Luckley, my rear tire has deep tread and only screwed up the tread and not the actual tire. Live and learn I guess.

You know what they say about drummers, right? Just kidding, we have all made mistakes that cost us money, but we learn from each other. Thanks for sharing
Ride on!

Did that on my Softail years ago when I lowered it. Thought I had clearance, but took about a 1/8" off one side of the tire. Don't beat yourself up too much. Live, learn and on to the next thing. Those expensive lessons really suck, but nobody lost a kidney.

My fiancé did that when he tried to lower his iron. It made a nice new tread on his tire. Didn't go any deeper and he was changing his tires in the fall so it worked out. He took off the lowering bracket real quick lol

Just be thankful that it didn't blow the tire while you and the girl were riding it, could have been a lot worse.
