Hey. I have an 02 883R and want to add a tachometer. Anyone experience any problems after the installation? I'm mainly concerned that it may cause electrical probs. I plan to have the dealer do the install. Thanks for your time.
Thanks mikeisglidn. That's what I was hoping to hear.
So what's it like having 2 bikes? Is it truly the best of both worlds? Do you find you ride one more than the other? I have had several people tell me to hold onto my bike always and add a FLH when I can afford it.
I'm also curious about the cost (both parts & labor) of adding a tach to my 1200c.
Genuine Harley parts; expensive.
Labor is 1 1/2 hours, which comes out to something like $105.
Parts at MSRP come out to something like $280-290 before taxes.
You can get an aftermarket tach for something like $105. The harley tach seems to be made pretty well and in the USA. The guage housing is horrible. Made in taiwan and mine came with like half the copper not plated on the inside. I can post pictures if you like.
Note: These prices reflect tachs that will fit 04+ bikes. Take $100 in parts for 03-.
I'd love to see pics if you don't mind posting them. I want to add a take myself, but haven't seen any on Sporties, so I'm not sure what's availabe. All the pics I see in magazines, just show the tach alone w/ no mounting hardware, or install pics.

I'm working on installing it right now. I'll post pictures when it's done.
