Here's a thread with a chart (post #7) comparing different brands of fork oil and some discussion about it:

rebound clunk comes back??? Are you saying your's clunks when forks drop out? I am almost 100% sure that is when mine clunk and I have checked everything except fishing the little short springs at the bottom of mine out to see what they look like. I am running Type E oil.
what weight is "e" oil, the springs look like auto rocker arm springs nothing special, I replaced mine with new, didn't work, so the other option is going with lighter oil and increasing either bike sag or rider sag by small, and I do mean small amounts (1/8th inch at a time) till I get the ride I want with no rebound clunk (topping out)

Ive seen HD "E" fork oil listed as 7.5 and 10 w so not sure exacltly. But I used the oil with my new progressive forks and the ride is substantially better.

That chart is pretty useless unless someone says whether the figures at the top or the figures at the bottom are the better ones. My choice of BelRay 7w is not on the chart but it is perfect as far as i can tell from riding on it for about 10,000 miles..

If your question is about which temperature to consider, the thread linked above had a remark about that. The 100 degree Celsius viscosity (blue) is the one to use for comparison.

Thanks HS, I'm about 80 miles south east of you here in Colonial Beach, I've been to the Richmond airport when it was above 100 and the BelRay 7w still did the trick. I've also ridden to Fredericksburg when it was 40 with no issues. I'm going to ride to Warsaw to church in a couple of hours, My bike sees a whole lot of route 3 miles. Waugh's is 69 miles from here.

It's my understanding, and it makes sense, that the oil moving through the orifices gets hot.
I've riden down through Colonial Beach after crabs at Tim's II. I ride my dirt bike at a buddy's place in Tappahannock. I like the area. It seems pretty laid back. We'e been looking for 10-20 acres in Stafford, but I'm starting to look East of 95, around King George towards your neck of the woods. Let me know if you hear about a deal.
I worked at the dealership where you bought your bike. I remember your bike being on the show room floor. I think it was the only one that came through there. Very rare color combo. Dark Green Envy and Light Green Envy, iirc. Speaking of Waugh's, that's where we purchased the OL's new Switchback a few months back. They came up with the best price and everything went smooth from the order process to taking delivery. I'm not mad at the other place and I left on good terms, but my OL still has a grudge against them. She equated buying a bike from them with going back to her ex. When she said that, it didn't matter if they had the best price or not, I was going somewhere else. Turned out to be Waugh's. Real nice ride out to Orange, too, but dang cold when you buy a bike in January.
Let me know if you head this way. I'll buy ya a cup of coffee.
