Default OEM Data Logging?

Does the Sporty's OEM system log pre-crash speeds like this?

DA Thomas Spota stated that investigative data from Herman’s Trailblazer indicates he was traveling at 87 mph when he hit Longo’s Hyundai Elantra, according to the Newsday report.

I doubt it but I honestly can't say for sure.

Interesting to speculate just what 'investigative data' means! It doesn't suggest to me that some form of electronic data was gathered, unless the report states that somewhere else. Perhaps the speedo jammed, or analysis of the degree of damage suggests that as the speed of the Trailblazer? Dunno!

I presume the DA, being a lawyer, has little to no understanding of vehicle computer systems, so the term 'investigative data' covers it nicely for him. Modern autos have the ability to store, and report, a short history of parameters captured just before shut-down. Stuff like throttle opening %, speed, brakes engaged/not; standard ECU inputs.

Info here: http://www.harristechnical.com/cdr.htm

System is tied into airbag deployment, so doubt Harley has one.
