looking into getting a new ignition module,
I had a crane cam HI-4N but it wasn't made for my year bike
Got a refund and looking for a new one.
Who's had luck with what
Anyone else have any recommendations for ignitions?
Is there a significant power gain to be had over the stock ignition?
No - absolutely not. Replacing the ignition in and of itself will provide ZERO increased HP, unless the existing ignition had problems and wasn't functioning properly to begin with.
The aftermarket ignitions will let you tune to better match other component changes (carbs/airbox/pipes/cams/heads) - but, by itself is almost no bang for the buck.
I use this one on my 1250 conversion (from 883) I find it works well, my bike is a 2000 ..the 1200 (1250) has a different advance curve than the 883 and this unit is adjustable ..Is et it up for the fastest advance with out pinging...as far as more hp..I am not sure, I do know it made the bike quicker feeling at lower rpms and the bike just ran better over the whole rpm range ...but I made some big changes to the motor (big valves, hotter cams, etc)..
