I have a 98' sportster 883 and was changing the brakes the other day when I realized the wire from my brake light that was tucked up under the fender had fallen out the side and the tire had rubbed some of the wires till they were exposed. I wrapped them up in electrical tape thinking that would be fine but when I went to test ride the bike after changing the brakes, I realized my speedometer and odometer were both not working. I looked at my running and brake light and there was nothing, as well as the turn signals and head light not working. I'm thinking that it might be a fuse? My guess was to replace the fuse and wire and see if that works but I have no clue which fuse it would be. Any replies help as I don't know much about electrical, thanks for your time
I bought a oil pump you could pump out oil on the oil add side and then add some new oil by reversing the pump, now its where I get stupid the clear oil tube on the pump came off into the oil hole you add oil to, don't know if I am painting a clear picture, now I can't see the tube and I know I can't start it until I get it out, does anyone know if I can take the pan off the bottom so I can fish this damn thing out, or knows where a diagram of the bottom of the engine..
I would repair the wires first cut soldier shrink wrap then tape then tuck them under. Try and see if everything works then if it doesnt then yeh you have to go fuse by fuse if you cant find a schematic for the wiring. If the wires are grounding out then that could be why nothing works so fix the obvious and go from there.
