I read the review where the guy explained what he did but for the life of me I can't get it on the bike.
It's a 94 1200.
Has anybody successfully gotten one of these on a Sportster like mine or able to give some advice on it?

Welcome to HDF from the UK. I've never used that bag, but plenty of others. What is the problem you're having? Sounds as if it comes with straps, to secure it on your tank. If a BMW owner can get it on his bike, you should be fine!

The issue just seems to be getting the front straps around the gas tank to hold it.
I was able to figure out that the 2 straps go near the handlebars and the single goes to under the seat. If I remove the seat I am able to get it secured there, just when I try and attach the dual strap piece around the underside of the gas tank it is either too loose or won't fit to the bag depending on where under the gas tank I attach it.
I am thinking it might even be an issue where the 2 strap piece is not long enough and I need to get a larger one for it to attach snugly. I believe this is built for a sport bike so the included pieces are not ideal.
