I bought my 2012 Nightster for MSRP. 6 months and 4,000 miles later I'm wanting a bigger bike. The suspension is too low and I feel cramped with the mid controls. This is my first bike and I fell in love with the blacked out look but out grew the bike very fast.
Wish I bought a 1200C.

Easy to fix with forward controls and better suspension.... Don't get rid of it... Many of us have gone the route of bigger bikes only to regret selling the Sportster, and coming back to it after some years.... My wife's first Harley has always been one of my favorites. Still love that color combination and regret getting rid of it.

First of all your wife is good looking, second I agree with the color combination and I as well had a sporty "thought" I out grew it sold it bought a bigger HD then ended up selling that and buying another sporty. Forward controls can take a cramped riding position and turn it in to a comfortable riding position so in less the owner has other reasons for wanting another model I would strongly suggest forward controls..
I have been looking at both 48's and Nightster's for the past 2 months. I have covered Craigslist, eBay, CycleTrader, etc. That Nightster was way over-priced!
48's are hard to find a good deal on since most of them are practically new and the prior owner hasn't paid any of the principle off. You can find better deals on Nightster's, just make sure it has forward controls. Personally I like the look of both. I love the big front tire on the forty-eight and like the bigger tank on the Nightster. I got lucky and found a totally custom Nightster on eBay. I will post it up on a different thread as I don't want to hijack this one.
Good luck and just have a little patience (which I don't) and you will find the right bike.
