Just about to order - I think I'm going to go with 12.5"s. Everyone's input is awesome and really helpful. I did read the following on the Progressive website though and wondered if there's anything else I should be thinking about:

"Before purchasing longer than stock shocks, confirm that your wheel travel can be extended without causing clearance issues such as, swingarm/axle to exhaust contact as well as chain/belt guard contact."

Anyone have any input on this? I don't imagine there's anything else to do other than swap out the shocks, but will I need to adjust tension on the drive belt or anything else?

I find that warning funny, as the most likely scenario is owners fitting shorter shocks, which are far more likely to cause interference problems! I have 13" shocks, with no clearance problems.

Just curious, are you going to change the shocks in the front or adjust the sag?

Good thread here.

I have an 04 1200c and am putting the SE heavy fork oil in this weekend. I have a set of standard 13" shocks I got off ebay that I thought about putting on too.

90% of my riding is solo, some with wife 2 up. I'm 150lb, she's 120lb. Will I be throwing off the geometry by going taller in the rear and keeping the stock front with just the new oil? I don't want to get a too-twitchy bike.

No, you should be fine. In general longer shocks also have more travel, hence sag a little more when sitting on them. So while riding the height is only a little taller than with shorter shocks.

I think I'm going to just do the shocks first and see what I think. If I don't like how the front is after that, I can get the fronts in a week, so we'll see what happens.

I did, but nobody was as cheap as DK. But I just did it again and found that Amazon is selling them for the same price ($219) through Powersport Superstore - funny how that works (they're $269 if you go directly to their website).

Ordered - be here in 3-5 days!

Thanks cHarley!
