rough idle 07 883
A friend of mine just bought an 07 883 with 8400 miles on it. It is completely stock. The problem is it idles rough, almost to the point of dying. It still revs and rides just fine. We changed the plugs but got little improvement.I don't really know what else to look at. Dirty fuel system? Electronic issues? Any ideas would be great. Thanks!

If you have no electrical diagnostic manual it will be very difficult to describe the process/codes if any. Not all codes will display...such as a faulty coil. I would check fuel for quality/water, then do a compression test to verify the state of the engine mechanically first. Check all connectors at the injectors, ecm, throttle body, ect.

An 07s idle is completely controlled by the onboard computer. Can't adjust it without connecting it to a computer and running the program designed for it. What you can do is check and make sure there is nothing loose or leaking air on the back side of the throttle valve, run some Seafoam through the fuel system to clean the injectors and fuel system, check and make sure your air filter is not so dirty it isn't getting enough air through. Just a few thoughts off the top of my head.
