I've found a set of exhaust pipes I like in a catalog.
They are upswept, and I can also get fishtail tips that will fit on them.
I don't see a crossover pipe with this set,and also don't see mufflers.
How will this affect the way my Sporty's engine runs, and the power band? Will it be too loud,or cause any problems?
The bike is currently bone stock. It is a 2003 with 1700 miles on it,883 engine.
I am also planning on getting a Screaming Eagle air cleaner kit very soon, and will probably bump the engine up to a 1200 next year.
Any advice/comments welcomed.
do youknow what is the length of the pipes? and can you post a pic? if the pipes are too short, theyll be loud, which is not a real bad thing, but you may suffer in performance caused by lack of back pressure. once you turn that puppy into a 1200 the added compression will help a lot. be sure to install a set of power cones! have fun send pics!!
Here is a pic of a Sporty with the pipes installed.
They are long,so maybe backpressure won't be a problem.
I have no idea what power cones are.Would you please elaborate?
Thanks.
look in the exhaust section and there is a post on power cones, skip is the resident guru on that subject!! by the way you souldnt have any problems with those pipes and they look good!
Thanks,I'll check out the Exhaust section.
I think those pipes would look better if they had more space between them where they upsweep, like a Big Twin would have.
Maybe that wasn't feasable in this situation.
Gotta have fishtails on it,too.
