Default Newbie Purchase Question

Just bought my first Harley; a 2012 883 Superlow. It has ~2600 miles on it. So, I've read their is a 1k mile service. I will assume it had the service. Is there a way to check this? What other things should I look at? I checked things as best as I could before purchase. I have some mechanical ability, but this is my first motorcycle. I purchased from a indie dealer who warranties it for a year. Should I take it to a dealer and have them look it over?

I would not assume that it has been done. At a minimum, I would change the oil and the transmission lubricant. It can't hurt and it is a minimal investment. Basic instructions can be found here: https://www.harley-davidson.com/en_U...ER/file-7.comp

Better yet, pick up a service manual and/or the owners manual.

There is a 1k 3k and 5k service if I remember right.

If it were me I would assume the 1k was never done, and get it done.
Then I would do the 3k and 5k.
After that every 5k

I don't believe there is a 3k service.

First of all you really should pick up the service manual for your bike. Then change all the fluids and perform the 1k service anyway. The service is really only the fluids and making sure all the nuts and bolts are to spec. While you're at it, adjust the clutch. All together it shouldn't take more than a couple of hours is you follow the checklist. It's well worth the piece of mind. It wouldn't even hurt (for $8) to change and gap the plugs. For $100, with the service manual, you'll know it was done.

If you dont have those services done by harley it voids the warranty on the bike.

Is my warranty not already voided since I'm the second owner?

Your warranty is still good. Can't hurt to save your receipts going forward. Regardless, always change the fluids when you buy a used bike. You learn about your bike in the process. Def pick up a service manual and watch YouTube videos before you start a service.

The bike does not lose warranty with a second owner, and doing your own service doesn't either. Just keep good records of what you do.
