I heard that a driver will look at you and see you but it doesn't register because their looking for a car
We think they are looking at us, but in reality their attention is down the road behind us. Their heads are just pointed at us with no 'motorcycle recognition' in their eyes/brain. They're only looking for two headlights. That's why I positioned the aux lights that I added the way I did. It creates a different pattern and is more noticeable.
I always ride in a position that I can see their face in one, or both, of their mirrors. At least that way I can tell if they're even using their mirror because they sure don't turn their heads.
The tip on watching the front wheels of cars at intersections (or parked) is a good one. Also, when going thru parking lots, watch for backup lights on cars as an indicator that it's about to pull out in front of you.

There's a lot of this kind of insanity going on in the DC Metro area as well. I attribute it to Lizard Brain in most car drivers. The heat and humidity is high so most drivers allow themselves to drift into a lower state of awareness, like a lizard looking for a rock to sun itself on a hot day.
Also, there's been an unusually large crop of Texters as well. Even more surprisingly, a larger than usual number of them are male.
Three bike riders (one a passenger) have lost their lives in the last week here in Oklahoma. Its a sad thing. Its not a whine or cry thing, just a reminder to watch your *** when on the road. I really don't care to be next.
Well, I heard the third guy killed was going 150 mph +/- per the local news. Must have been crotch rocket. Also must have had his head in his rectum. Dumb is dumb and dead is dead. If your gonna fly, take a plane.

No offense but dumb is believing everything you hear on the news.
What will get your attention faster? "Biker dies in an accident" or "Biker killed riding 150 mph."
Whatever happened, from riding a crotch rocket to a scooter, almost all of us had a scary and educational experience, watch out for your surroundings.
They didn't look you in the eyes, they looked right through you.
Correct.. most cage vs motorcycle accidents the driver of the cage says they didn't even see the motorcycle even thou the rider thought he/she was looking right at them..
I installed a set of Hi-Lo air horns. The kind with a mini air compressor. Sounds like an 18 wheeler about to crush them!
On occasion A person will pull out in front of me and lock up their wheels when they hear the horns. I don't think they know it's my horn, but the awesome sound is very effective (and fun). I do think it's better than loud pipes.
I have not even had my new Iron for two weeks and last night I was cut off. And they had the stop sign! The passenger waved at me and mouthed "I'm sorry". SMH
