Tank swap
My dad is swapping the tank from his '01 Sportie to what looks like an '04 Sortail tank (both are carbed.) Everything seems to match up good, but the tank has the 5x8 square hole between the tank caps open. Since there will be no electronics going in, is there a cover or insert he can use to seal the hole so the tank is useable?

That's probably where the speedo, ignition switch, instrument lights and such-like went. Unlikely there is a cover available, but a local custom shop could make a cover for it, even weld a panel over the hole.

Maybe make it into a storage compartment.
