I don't know if the '95's had a bank angle sensor or not, but I'm thinking it probably does seeing as it looks to also have the electronic speedo, as there's only the brake line going down to the wheel, (and no cable for speedo).

Ok here are a couple follow ups to all of your comments...

So the rear left turn signal is damaged...in my haste it was damaged when I off loaded it from a trailer by myself.

I don't think that it's not starting because of the drop because I can get the engine to turn over and sputter a bit...

So here are my observations...I have never met a HD owner to not be able to find his keys! This tells me that the guy was not very attentive to his bike. Second, the bike has been sitting for sometime my best estimate is at least 10 months since it was last ridden. In fact it has sat so long that a lot of the rubber grommits and even the tires have dry rot.

So I think I should mention that this is an economy bike and in the spirit of economy bikes it will eventually become my rendition of what a economy bobber should look like. There for I plan to strip the bike down to fit this genre.

Someone suggested it wasn't very wise to eliminate the ignition...to that I say, if someone wants to steal my bike bad enough not matter what I do they are going to steal it (Trust me been down this path with a sportbike that I spent entirely way too much money on). So I keep full insurance on my bike and take reasonable precautions. Also, its not like I threw out the ignition, I plan on holding on to it in the event I ever need it and I can go to HD and buy a key for $25.

Ok with that out of the way...today I removed the gas tank and poured out 98% of the gas (dang that stupid reserve). Someone mentioned a paper filler at the petcock earlier and I am wondering if it is cylindrical (mine is yellow and seemed to not be paper but some sort of plastic mesh). If I clean this with dawn dish soap and hot water is that good?

Next I pulled the spark plugs...looks like they are burning a bit white rear cylinder is white then the front. If I remember correctly doesn't this mean the bike was running lean? I plan on replacing with some E3 spark plugs this weekend.

Then I went to pull off the A/C cover...what a bitch...was able to get one bolt out but not able to get the other. Hit it with WD40 from as many angles as possible...Tried to put back-pressure on it while turning it...nothing. The stupid pos just keeps turning and turning in either direction...Anyone have any suggestions on how I can remove it to get to the A/C? Plan on replacing the filter this weekend as well.

...and since I am doing that I am also planning on changing the oil...anyone have any suggestions on products to use? My thought right now is to use either Mobile1 or Royal Purple and a better than paper oil filter. However, since I only have a couple months left here in MN of riding was thinking of just running a standard conventional and then going to the other next season. Thoughts?

So some other observations looks like the throttle cable at the throttle body has a bit of slack...I need to read up on the service manual here to find out more. But my question is I have heard about uskoolines.com for braided spark plug wires but would like to replace the rest of my lines this winter with same color braided as well. Does anyone have any resources to where I can sources these?

I know there is a lot of talk on this and other forums about the 1250 conversion and I am not so much asking about that as I don't know if I will tackle that this winter...but I am considering a Stage 1 upgrade in preparation for it.

So here are the current mods I am considering...
1. Exhaust - I will either keep the stock exhaust and remove the baffles and wrap them or go with something like the Sikpipes Double Barrels or the Edge setup
2. A/C - Thinking of going with a K&N Aircharger, Stacker or Big Sucker A/C or Stacker
3. Tuner - Will do probably go with Power Commander 3 when I do the 1250 conversion

Hmmm...no replies to this...figured a basic blank slate sporty would attract tons of attention when it comes to mods....

Well here is the current update with photos:

So in order to get the bike running I had to complete the following
1. Drained the gas tank and replaced with Mid-grade per HD's recommendation and added about 8-12 ounces of SeaFoam to the tank.
2. Changed the oil (including filter) after searching around found that 20w50 Full Synthetic from HD was cheaper than any of other automotive car parts store including Walmart. ($11\qt & $7.95\filter).
3. Changed the spark plugs using HDs ($4.95\pr)

Ok so as I might have said when I bought this bike the owner could not find the key, so to get around having to buy the key from HD ($25) I picked up a toggle switch ($3.45) instead.

Great looking bike for such a low price. However, I would have spent the extra $21.55 and got the key.

$800 what a deal! go buy an ing switch & wire it in properly for what you paid you can afford to splurge toggle switch not a good idea IMO yep flush all things with gas from tank to carb If it's been sitting that long gas probably turn to goo in carb bowl may want to just rebuild it

Hey guys thanks for the comments...

I did want to re-iterate that I still have the actual ignition and can go at any time and get the key....but I wanted to get started on working on the bike and make sure it would even run before I started time money and energy into.

So the other reason for doing that mod was because this bike is well over 15 years old and therefore Harley Davidson will not work on it in there shop it doesn't make a whole lot of sense for me to try and keep it too original.

Oh....yea tires are definitely being replaced as soon as possible...right now I am trying to find a place that doesn't charge me an arm and a leg to mount and balance.

Nice Bike, and especially for $800!!

Also, Power commander is for EFI bikes. I believe carb bikes must be rejetted.

G/L on the project and keep us posted!
