My experience is very similar to yours. If I fill up when it comes on I'm only down a couple gallons. I still pay attention to it but I don't rely on it. What really tells me it's time to refill is when I'm leaving a light and even under mild acceleration it sputters and coughs real bad like the fuel is flowing to the back of the tank and not getting into the line. It's usually under a gallon when that starts happnin.

About the same here with a 3.3 tank. 100 miles and about 2 gallons to top off. It is consistent tho, so I suppose you might call it accurate. I do miss a carb bike sometimes with the reserve petcock...these FI bikes will have fuel left in the tank and the pump can't pick it up, especially under hard acceleration.

The light should come on when there is around 1 gallon left in the tank.

This can be affected by going around a corner, up or down a hill, which temporarily changes the level of the fuel at the float. Once the light goes on, it will not go off until the key is turned off.

There is a lot more information on the subject at this link- Post #3

I get about 50 MPH and my light comes on about 132 on the trip-ometer and I have a 4.5 gal. tank and it is very consistent. That leaves me about 1.75 gal. left in the tank (since I fill it up on the stand. That means I still have about 85 more miles in my tank before I run out, which I will never let happen if I can help it.

When gas is low, mine will sometimes come on after hitting a bump or leaning but it usually turns off after 30 seconds or so. It will stay on only when I reach about one gallon left in the tank as expected. I have a 3.3 tank, light comes on after about 85 in the city or around 100 on the highway.

Thanks for the replies. I guess normal is what is normal for your bike. Rode over 100 miles again yesterday and the light came on at about the same 130 mile mark. I can live with that.

On my '13 1200C the light usually comes on from 100-130 miles but have had it come on at 160 before (all highway). But when I fill up the 4.5 gallon tank, it usually only takes 2-3 gallons and I try to squeeze in as much as possible. I slowly fill it up until I see gas touch the bottom of the fill hole.

Warning: Fuel mileage can go down as riding experience increases.

When I first started riding, I was getting 90 miles out of my 2.1 peanut. After 6 months of experience that apparently dropped to 79 miles. (what can I say? I LOVE the take off )
After a 1.5 mile push in the August heat of Central Florida, when the light comes on....The gas goes in.

Mine comes on at 90. I tested it today. I do have a 3" tank lift, not sure if that matters and I'm not easy on the throttle whatsoever.

I have the 3.3 tank and when the light comes on I can add 2.1 gallons.
