I have a set of 13" tall rear shocks I'll sell you. They bolt right on any sportster, they came from an 06 model.
They are super soft and cushion like. Not for knee dragging or drag racing, but they were very comfy on the highway, soaked up bumps like no other.
$40 plus shipping if you are interested, I can provide pics. They are chrome, OEM harley shocks.
Thanks for the offer, but I pass... Riding season almost over and will prob go with progressive over the winter. Gunna put more black on this bike as well.
Sure man, I'll take some pics tonight with a large ruler overlayed so you can see the dimensions and whatnot.
They came off of an 06 sporster that was a "tall" model, I believe their height is 13.25" center to center uncompressed.
They bolted right onto my 2012 Iron 883, using the same spacers that the factory shocks already came with. They raised up the bike at least an inch and changed the bike *completely*. I used to have to get weight off my *** when a big bump came, or it would kill my lower back...but with these on there I was literally hitting bumps on purpose at 70 because I couldn't believe how well it soaked them up.
I did replace them with a set of 13" Progressive 412s for two reasons: I wanted black shocks, and I wanted the 5 position preload adjustment, where I think these shocks have 3 positions (high, medium, low).
I'll take pics and post them here (hopefully the op is interested but if he/she is not, I can continue this via PM with you) later tonight.
Sounds great let me know via PM with your paypal info and I will transfer funds ASAP. That is assuming the OP passes on them. Thanks.
YES~! Yes, totally agree... Get yourself a set of Touring air shocks from ebay, spend about $100 to $150 and be DONE~ You'll be happy too
Tried that route on the Low... had them on for a couple of hours, played with pressure and hated them. Turned the rear of the bike into a pogo stick. Think I'll just trade rear shocks between the low and the roadster. If that doesn't work I'll keep an eye out for some aftermarket shocks over the winter. Thanks for all the replies tho.
Yall should try a vmax. To keep the tires planted in curves at high speeds you need that stiffness. After doing 75 miles on my buddies vmax this weekend the sportster felt like a road sofa ride quality wise. Take the ster off the end of the name of the bike and you got what the bike is designed to do. Its the nature of the bike and even then it still rides soft. If you put plush light rated springs that pogo as one put it, on the back you rob peter to pay paul. It wont do the sport thing anymore. Its like ordering chicken strips at Texas raod house and complaining about them not being the best chicken strips ever.
