There will be a lot of "opinions" about many things for Sporties on here. Do your research and make your own decision.
Many are totally against sporties as baggers....that is their opinion. I have a bagger and love it. It is your bike, make it your own...don't worry about what others think.
And btw - I also have a HD chrome engine guard. Purchased off CL like new for $50.
Another option I've seen/considered... Spendy (200$ ish) though. They make frame sliders for the Roadster that I think would mount up on a regular sporty. Look better IMHO. http://www.satoracing.com/framesliderhdXR1200.htm
i like mine also, if you go down, they protect alot of spendy stuff
can u get a photo of the lower mount if possible ? i wanna see what i have to do to modify my lower spoiler to get it to work with the bars .. i like this style and before i purchase them , i want to see what im going to have to cut away from the spoiler if i can , which im sure its no biggie .. thanks if u can
toooo late i ordered a set damn hahaha i will figure it out when they get here grrrrrr
I bought mine on E-bay. It's HD. It had a scuff but nothing bad. I thought I'd hate it on the bike but I really don't mind it at all. The thing is, I went down at approx. 35 mph before the guard. Banged up my ankle and the shifter on my bike. I think if I had gone down with an engine guard my chrome might have had a couple of scuffs but that would be about it. I think insurance paid about $1,600 to fix it. I'm betting insurance wouldn't have been involved if I had the engine guard. Sure, the bike looks a little better without it but I think it looks good with it too. I didn't think I'd keep it on long but now I see no reason to remove it and every reason to keep it.
