I think HD might have redesigned this for the '06's. I just bought an '05 that was made in late June and dealer pointed out to me that it had the new pop up dipstick. I think it has more tension on it and it has grips on the side so you can grab it easier. Not sure if the salesman was pulling my leg or not but he said they implemented the change into the late '05's and '06's. Regardless, it wasnt a selling point for me...Now that new tranny that's in the 06's....that might have been a selling point.

Not sure why, but it popped up on my wife during a 25 mile ride today and got oil on the side of the bike.
