J&P Has good customer service. They will make it right. Should have came with a return ups label. Get a RA number and they will send one back out after they receive yours. Let them know of the poor packing. Did it come from Hiawatha warehouse?
don't know what warehouse but it was in original box from manufacturer in Taiwan & had NO packing inside at all & tank was banged around & breaking through box which was falling apart. I'm surprised it made it as far as it did in that condition. A blind monkey could've realized it was f'd up
Photograph the packaging and damage, also follow the advice above. Best of luck sorting things out! Give your bike a hug......
I video'd the un boxing as evidence. When I talked with JP Cycles customer service she asked if I could send some pictures of the box & tank. I told her I could do one better than that. I told her to log onto You Tube look up my channel by my full name & she could watch it. Her tone completely changed once she found out it was on You Tube. That's when I got the apology & a promise of a new tank shipped out immediately & UPS would retreve the damaged tank & box.
I'm taking her out tomorrow morning for a ride to work she'll like that
Saw your video. It does look like it was damaged in transit. I wonder if the delivery driver did the damage or could it have been damaged before the delivery driver even touched it. Either way UPS will end up paying for it in the end. I have the 4.5 gallon tank on my 09 Sportster 1200xl low and love it. I bought the new analog digital speedo from Harle along with the optionall gas level sensor. Really enjoy knowing how my fuel is doing when I am on a long haul.
yea for all I know the damage could've been done in shipping from Taiwan to JP Cycle & not by UPS. As it was original box with out any packing material. But the driver did throw or drop it because it made so much noise I thought someone had ran into my truck parked out front. I'd like to think that JP Cycles wouldn't ship it out if it already looked like that but I don't know
log onto You Tube search Robert Robb you'll see my channel. My avatar is me in a bright yellow t shirt holding my grand daughter. I'll try to paste a link if this site lets me
Im sorry that this happened to you but that is weird. I just got a shipment from JP and UPS as well and my boxes were packed exceptionally well. I hope you get this resolved in a timely manner.
yea I've been buying from JP Cycles for years & this is the first time anything like this has happened I hope it's not a sign of things to come or that they've lowered their standards because there's a lot of other things I want to purchase as the money comes up but I may have to find a new company to do business with
I was considering one of these tanks, but it's $258, unfinished and requires sealing, while the genuine made-in-USA? HD product (primed) is $398 shipped. I went with the latter.
for UPS employee here. that got damaged in shipping. driver ran from your porch cause he probably had half his route still left and didnt want to have to talk to you about it, because he cant do anything; you have to call up and talk to their claims department.
Lol wife in her PJ's, that's funny ****, it happened in transit not while on the drivers truck or in his posession, driver couldn't help so he didn't want to stick around to catch the flack for it. You would be blown away if you saw how the UPS/Fedex/every other carrier employees in the major hubs handle packages. Everything that leaves my warehouse is double boxed and wrapped 2X in bubble pack and cush paper, better safe then sorry and my customers appreciate it. This time of year those drivers run 12 hour days or more so they do everything they can to save time/headache. Sorry to hear about the situation but glad JP is going to make it right, seems like a fluke on their part that it left with no packing. At the end of the day the finger has to be pointed at JP, they should know that the carrier will abuse the package and pack the product for that situation.

where'd you get that price ? My dealer wanted about twice that. Is that the price for the 4.5 sportster tank?

yea I can't blame him for making a run for it I probably would've done the same if I was him, "BUT" he didn't have to throw or drop it so hard that the noise made me think someone had ran into my truck parked out front. I would've set it down softly & snuck away. Can't UPS refuse to accept a damaged package for shipping if it was already like that? I don't know. Somebody screwed up & the only thing I did wrong was order from JP Cycles apparently
