I have an 08 Nightster with a Mustang Vintage touring seat on there now. I like it and it works just fine... most of the time. I have a group of guys I ride with at least once a week and when I running with them our speeds tend to be a little higher than when Im riding solo. Because of this, I keep getting pulled backwards and if I hit a decent bump in the road, im now sitting on the back of the seat.
What Im looking for is a good solo seat with more of an upsweeping back on it, if thats even a word. Something that will keep me more in the saddle than on the back of the saddle.
I have the stock solo seat.. it keeps you in the saddle, but is anything but comfortable.
I have looked into the LePera seats, they have a few that will keep you up front.. villain, silhouette up front, but i havent pulled the trigger either. http://www.lepera.com/seat_pgs/v3_Sport_07_result.php
That stubs spoiler is interesting. I still have my stock seat also. I could try that out and see how it keeps me in the seat, but yea on a long trip it's a no go!
The stock solo will keep you planted. I love switching back to mine for hopping around town. If your runs with the guys are like mine, saddle time isn't all that long, but what it lacks in longevity it more than makes up with intensity.
Jester, ya usually about 30 minutes or so but pretty intense.. hahah But we have a day ride coming up, and I would really like to feel planted in the seat if we are gonna be going intense for a few hours or more.
Not to bad,but not one for a 500 mile day. Most of my rides are 1 1/2 hours or less and it does quite well.Like all Mustang seats it took about 500 miles to break in.You can carry a passenger on it as well, but the back part is more for looks than riding any distance.I'm 5'8" and 210 lbs. and I ride a Superlow, fits and looks great and has plenty of lower back support.
