Normally the front signals have a 2 filament bulb. (1 for signal other for running)
The rear has a 1 filament bulb. (signal only)
If yours (Canadian) is different, it would have to be wired completely different and have 2 filament bulbs front and rear.
Your manual SHOULD list 2 different bulb numbers, if it's normal.
On the US version of the 48 the rear bulbs are dual filament. However, I just looked at the parts diagram for the 48 and it lists a separate part number for the bulb socket on the Canadian version. I suspect this may be a single filament socket so that the light only operates as a turn signal.
Not sure how it is for the 2014's. The rear blinkers on the 2013's and prior do not operate as driving and/or break lights; they are only turn signals. The moco does however offer a turn signal module for $75 or so, that will enable your rear blinkers to operate as running/turn signal/break lights.
Transport canada does not allow the turn signals and brake lights to be combined. They also do not allow the chopped rear fender and side license plate mount which is why we get the standard sportster fender on the Iron here in Canada instead of the chopped version that is stock in the US.
