I think the color of that tank will look awesome with the black on the 48. I wish V&H Short Shots bracket wasn't in the way of me extending my right side passenger peg. The wife cant get comfortable with the back in the way of her foot.

Lol Thanks I hope it looks good too. Yea I noticed with the Short Shots there's almost no room to extend that right side peg.
I should receive the tank by tomorrow and I'll be doing mock up and prepare to swap the fuel pump and stuff. I'll post pics when done and then we can go over the results lol
Received the tank today and it looks great minus the tabs on the back bone getting bent during shipping.
Does anyone know where I can get the replacement plastic covers for the front of the tank near where it mounts by the triple tree? It seems they got removed off the tank as well and I need to put them back on.
Lol why did you do that? Do you like the 2.1 better for looks?
I had to switch cuz of fuel mileage
Well, it wan't a big deal at first. But I laid down my bike and my tank got damaged (not to an extent that I can't use it), but since the tank had to be re-painted, I just got a 2.1 gal tank and painted that denim black and added a decal like the oem Iron one.
It only cost me $250 shipped from eBay, and it was a mint take-off, no scratches at all. And I did kinda like the smaller tank more.
I never understood the reason you guys (48 owners) complained about stopping for gas, until I used the tank, LOL. I used to fill it up every 200 kms (124 miles), now I fill it up every 120 kms (74 miles). That is a pretty significant drop in miles between fills (80 kms, 50 miles).

But I still think its worth it, for the look.
Its worth it depending on your length of ride. For me and my group it just doesn't add up. I don't think much of us 48 owners thought the fill ups would be so short but I think we all did it for the look of the bike but it just doesn't seem practical for me. If I end up with a 2nd bike the 2.1 will go back on my 48 but the 3.3 will go on for now unless I really don't like how it looks.

You could always put it on and ride with it for a week and if you don't like it swap it back. Not too difficult of a swap that you can't do it to try it out.
I think that tank would look sick if you used the tan as a background and added flat dark Earth or woodland green to replicated some type of cammo pattern over it. Just an opinion. It's worth what ya paid. Might be cool for a military feller.
