Hell, if I wanted the $35k SE Ultra, I could have it...It's not about being small or cheap or any of that stuff. It's about what I like....PERIOD.
Same here, and you got that right!
I have a picture of our two bikes on my locker here at work, one of the guy's that has been rubbing about Sportsters, told me tonight "I took a good look at your new bike and can't wait to see it out in the parking lot, I like it." He had to almost pick me up off the ground.
Know one person got to me about my bikes, it was just getting old to hear every where I went. And I have to admit, I'm the type of person that gives people I like a hard time, so I have to take it if I dish it out. Get a few beers in me and you either like me or hate me.
I have to say I run a small car lot and I've had my bike at workfor a few days and every time I get people who stop or call to see if it's for sale [8D]I got what I wanted so that's what mattered, now to personalize
I'm Sportie all the way! Never would have it differently. I love my bike. I rode my buddie's street bob and hated it. I rode with him today and he couldn't manuver through traffic like I can.
I think Sportsters get a bad rap for whatever reasons, mostly from people that have never ridden one or at all.
You hit the nail on the head!!! I have owned a Sportster, 45 WLA, Superglide, FXR Lowrider, Electraglide, and now a rigid custom. The only people that I have ever heard talk bad about the Sportsters or any other bike for that matter werethose that have never rode one. Ride what makes ya happy, and tell the ignorantmorons to kiss you azz!!!
Problem is most potential Harley owners are aging fast and the only thing they can fit there fat lazy **** on is a touring model or there large SUV.
Read any write up on the Nightster and they are quick to point out that Harley recognises the fading bread and butter baby boomer market that had built the company and are turning to young new talent to help redesign the model line-up so the company will have a future.
I would never have bought a Harley had the Nightster not come out. I cannot justify the cost of a Dyna or a Softtail and to be honest the over exploited chrome bike is not my style. There areplenty of othermetric bikes outthere that compete with theupper level Harley's but if you scan the metrics line-up there is nothing that competes with the sportster... There are metrics that are the same sizeand style but all of them have smaller engines (500-900cc)then there is a jump to 1100-1300cc metrics, that areDyna'esc models.
The only HD bike I ever considered in the pastwas the Sportster. Ihave always considered itHD's best bike, not a beginner bike, not an entry level Harley. I consider it the onlytrue Harley.
No one has ever snubbed me for getting aSportster atleast not yet. Although one of my buddies said I could have saved moneyby getting a metric but then when Ishowed him price comparisons, he agreed that for the money it was an excellent choice.Even the metrics are creeping up in cost.
a few of the guys i ride with call it a skirtster......at first it would get to me being a new rider but now i say **** it especially after i get my conversion done and they cant keep up...then we shall see who has something to say.....
