I have the DK 587 air cleaner system with the breather bolts. I am switching out the breather bolt for the external filter and hose breather. I followed the instructions. Breather bolt, washer, banjo fitting, another washer then through filter bracket. I have washers behind bracket as well to take up space as they say to do so. I did that and torqued everything done. My problem is the breather bolts now stick out to far. I cant get my filter mounting plate on (bolt hitting plate). What am I doing wrong?
Take a look at the pictures. First picture shows the setup before I put it through mounting bracket. Second picture shows how I put breather through banjo (hollow area around threads facing motor).

You're not doing anything wrong.
I am very sorry! We had a batch of washers that are too heavy (thick) for these kits to fit the Sporty 587.
There is very little clearance on the Sporty 587 for these. Do not use a washer between the support bracket and the heads...or if you do, a very thin one.
Then the washers on either side of the banjo also need to be very thin. Unlike the between the bracket and the head, there do need to be washers on either side of the banjo. If you do not have any, or easy access to some, please email or call the shop in the morning and we'll get some right out to you.

Thank you DK Customs! I talked to Natalie today on the phone this evening. Super helpful and apologized for the whole thing. She told me she would send me out new washers first thing in the morning. That's when I realized I had the thin washers from the original breather bolts I had on before. I told her I will just reuse those. She said she didn't mind sending out new ones, and just to let her know. Finally a company that doesn't treat there customers like crap once they get there money! You folks will continue to get my business!
As suggest by Kevin I didn't use any washers between the head and bracket, worked out great. I really like the way it looks. Just adds to that raw old school look!
