Just 2 bolts, one at the front of the tank, and the other under just above the rear head. Take those bolts out, disconnect the fuel line, and vent line, and that's all. Pretty easy, about the same difficulty level as taking handlebars off.

Should be a 3.3. It only takes 2.5 gallons when you refill if you haven't drained the reserve.

1 bolt in front by gooseneck, and one bolt just behind the ham can(air filter cover) going thru top frame member.

Note: watch for the ground wire when removing, easy to snag.

hope this helps....

It's 3.3. Turn the bolt on the front of the tank counter clockwise, do the same for the bolt on the rear. Pull up on tank and look where the hoses go, remember where they go to put it back on.Disconnect the hoses and pull up. Place tank in safe spot. No, it's not difficult. Keep a rag handy to grab any gas that may drip, turn the petcock to the 'off' position just to be safe.

What else are you planning?

Make sure youpurge the carb first. There is a small drain/vent hose that snakes down the right side of your bike and is usually stuck under your oil filter. There is a screw on the back side of your carb that can be accessed from the left/choke side of your bike with a long thin screw driver. Loosen that screw (counter-clockwise)and it will drain the carb and the excess fuel in the hose between the petcock and carb. (Do not forget to close this screw upon re-assembly or gas will run right out of your vent hose when you start the bike) The runout will be out of the vent hose so pull that hose out and stick it in your gas can. The petcock has a vacuum lock on it so gas will not leak out once you have drained the carb.

While this step is not required, if you fuel hose pulls off with some difficulty like most do, this will save you from getting a face, or bike, or both full of gas. It IS essential if you are doing any carb work to avoid a big, and dangerous mess.

After you do this step, you can proceed as described above.

Once you have it off you can slide a 2x4 or a 2x6, I can't remember exactly what I used, but this will prevent the bottom from being scratched.
