Default First mods

Following the advice of many here my first mods on the 48 are towards comfort. I originally replaced the stock *** hatchet with a Mustang Vintage Solo, great comfort in the rear but pressure on the thigh was pinching a nerve causing my whole left leg to go numb. Bye, Bye mustang. Put the stock back on and well we all know how that thing feels. Decided to try a Danny Gray Weekday 2-up (my wife won't ride but maybe every now and again or my son may go up and down the street with me). I really prefer the solo look but maybe eventually I'll get another so I can swap as needed.

First 10 miles on the seat and I think I have a winner, both back and butt comfortable, no pinched nerves, hopefully all good.

Then I installed (first real mod), some DK Customs slip stream trap pegs along with the heel kits and trap pegs for the heels. A note on Kevin at DK; unbelievable service and answers to my questions (and I had a few). Stuff shipped same day as order and received within two days. At first I was a little confused for the install but it was truly simple other than those stupidly small snap rings.

A word to anyone considering the heel kits on their 48... The pegs themselves would fit no problem as DK's website lists, my understanding is that the peg mount on the 48 and some Sportsters is a little offset.

Well the heel kit clevises that it came with wouldn't properly fit the offset peg mounts so I had to grind about 1/8th of an inch off. Little scary but frankly good fun and made it feel like a true modification in my little brain.

Overall with the added heel kit clevis everything sticks out a little longer than I imagined, I think it's going to be super comfortable but of course when I shift gears or use the brake pedal I need to move my toes inwards which I wouldn't have to do without the heel kit. I don't think it's going to be a big deal and seemed to get used to it in the first mile. Also whether due to length or flex, the pegs seem to droop a little more than the stock round peg which was probably solid steel.

I'm definitely going to order their quick release pins which will make adjusting the angles of the heel kits much easier. I think the look is pretty cool and will send update after first few rides about comfort. If anyone has any suggestions to make on adjustments, etc please feel free!

To be fair, I was just on DK's website again and it states pretty darn clearly that the heel kits do not fit the 48 or Sportsters with offset clevis's. Still it was good to get my feet wet with a grinder.

I looked at similar pics and it seems like the offset between pegs and pedals or shifter is pretty normal. Still, I wonder if there's a way to shorten the axle a bit
