Default Bassani Slip ons
I just received my Bassani 3" Firepower slip-ons for my '12 XL1200C Sportster. When I pulled them from the box I noticed that they do not have any openings for the stock crossover pipe. I am a little confused as other aftermarket slip-ons I have seen do have the inlets for the crossover. To add to the confusion, there were no install instructions included. I have a call into the dealer I bought them but have not received a return call. Is this normal, do these mufflers eliminate the crossover and, if so, what do I do about the openings in the crossover.

A lot of the new full systems don't utilize the crossover pipe. It can be removed. There's about 3 bolts that are securing it. Simply remove and you'll be fine.

Sounds like you may have gotten the version for the 2014 model which has the crossover pipe on the header.

Can't do that as the slip-ons bolt up to the crossover.

Thanks, I was not aware they made a change. I did order slip-ons for a '12 maybe they sent me the wrong ones. Still have not heard back from the dealer.
